Steve Michaud
(drums)
Drummer Steve Michaud hails from the New Hampshire area. His heavily polyrhythmic style was developed early in his playing career, due in no small part to his studies with Gary Chaffee, former Dean of Percussion at Berklee College of Music. Gary considered Steve one of his finest students. Steve went on to study at Berklee College of Music, being placed in the most advanced drum lab his very first year. He then went on to play to standing-room-only venues with a top New England Jazz-Fusion band. Steve's career really blossomed upon meeting fusion keyboard master Steve Hunt. The two immediately hit it off and have since gone on to do several recordings together. Steve did some playing on Hunt's first solo CD, which also featured Chad Wackerman and Allan Holdsworth. He then played on a collaboration effort between Steve Hunt and Lucas Pickford entitled "Blown Fuse." Amongst the rave reviews is the following from Todd S. Jenkins (AllAboutJazz.com): "Other new comers on this CD includes the absolutely amazing Steve Michaud on drums. He's like Gary Husband, Vinny Colaiuta, and Dennis Chambers wrapped up in one person!" Steve continues to record with top-notch creative projects. The most recent release is David Hine's "Nebula," which also features Steve Hunt, Steve Kirby, and Allan Holdsworth. Steve is also highly regarded as a private instructor in southern New Hampshire, where he lives with his wife Sheryl and his two sons John Owen and James Calvin. |
